‘I’ll Just Lay (For A While)’ emerged as a late addition to the world of Okay, Maybe, originally growing from the fleeting 26-second interlude ‘Mind the Rip Current’. The fragment had always felt like a playful turning point within the EP’s arch, and expanding it into a full double-single was almost inevitable. But by the time main production had ended, the track arrived too late to fit seamlessly: what Joey describes as a “cherry on top… sweet, but maybe too sweet.” The band chose to let the EP stand, allowing this extended piece to exist independently.

The single retains the sonic universe of the EP while exploring new textures, instrumentation, and found sounds.

Once again collaborating with Simon L’Espérance (Karcius) on mixing and Richard Addison (Trillium Sound) on mastering, Pēlikel refined the cinematic scope of the music, creating two tracks that balance lush orchestration with intimate, human detail. Kevin notes, “The single blurs the line between the real and the imagined… it also reprises melodic motifs from the EP. A self-referential musical synthesis of Okay, Maybe.”

The tracks capture a moment of clarity within a spiral of introspection. It creates a space without urgency, a pause, a call for reflection, and the understanding that you can return when you’re ready.
